Ordering an item made from several printed parts

An enclosure with a lid or a small display model may contain several printed components. A useful request describes each part and the complete set. That gives the workshop enough information to discuss how they will work together.

Send an overall view and a clear description of each printed component when ordering related parts from DECORDS 3D. Give the file, dimensions, material and quantity for every element. Explain the connections separately and define what makes one complete set. Request agreement of the whole job, because estimating one uploaded file does not automatically cover the remaining parts or their assembly.

Start with an image of how the separate components should look together in the finished item. This can be an overall model view, a clear sketch or an annotated photograph of an existing object. Identify the parts included in the request and the items you already have. The workshop can then discuss one defined set and clarify each component without having to infer its purpose from a filename.

Give the quantity of each part needed for one item and for the entire order. One lid, two mountings and one housing describe a different set from equal quantities of every component. Identify any spares separately so the totals remain clear. Review the contents again with the files before confirmation, especially when the same element appears in several positions.

Name files so they can be matched to the components in the overall image. The website accepts STL and OBJ up to 20 MB and 250,000 triangles for an initial estimate of an element. Explain which file belongs to each part and which version should be used for the complete item. If no source models exist, creating the set is discussed separately from sketches, photographs and dimensions.

Identify the surfaces that need to touch, separate or move relative to each other. Provide connection dimensions and the intended fit separately, together with information about mating components. The Prusa modeling guide covers general principles for connected features. Agree the suitability of the particular joint and its checking method before the whole set is manufactured.

Different components may need different properties, so explain what each one does. DECORDS 3D offers FDM printing in PLA, PETG, ASA and TPU, selected according to the task. Discuss colors, flexibility and important surfaces alongside the design. If the item includes screws, electronics or other purchased components, clarify their role separately and confirm what the agreed work includes.

When several components need to work together, test one complete set before making the rest. Check that connections align, fixings remain accessible and the assembled item performs the intended action. Identify which parts need changes while retaining the approved versions of those that already fit. Confirm the set’s contents and revised files again after modifications so the series repeats a checked result.

Use the calculator for an initial estimate of a single component, checking its dimensions and quantity. For the complete item, provide all the components and request confirmation of the whole scope, including any modeling. Assembly, additional components, finishing and delivery need separate agreement if the project requires them. Allow for discussion and a trial set when planning production, particularly if the finished item is needed by a specific date.

Submit the overall inquiry through the project form or to 3dprint@decords.com with images and an explanation of the set’s contents. Include a contact person, required number of sets and proposed checking method. DECORDS 3D is at Madara 33/1, S1, Tallinn, with collection or an available delivery method for approved finished work. Confirm the files, printed components, price and handover before starting so the order reflects your description of the complete item.
